Which band saw blade should we be using?

We are using the Grizzly G0555 with riser block. It takes a 105" blade. We are wanted to cut 1" thick slabs from some Walnut logs. We are using a resaw sled made with plans from Wood Mag. Right now we are using a Carter Accuright blade 1/2" but not sure of the teeth or pattern. The current blade seems to wander a lot even with the right tension and using the sled. Any thoughts on what blade we should be using? We have heard a lot about the Wood Slicer from Highland Woodworking.

Wanted to update: checked the blade we were using and it is a 1/2" 4 tpi Carter blade. We happened to have a 3/4" 3 tpi so we switched it. Much straighter cut. Still thinking of picking up a Wood Slicer blade, though.

  1. We had a presentation by 2 guys in my guild... Both LOVED their wood slicers for resawing (and they often did veneers so you know it had to be accurate). I know the one person has a HUGE saw and could create a veneer 12" 'tall' by many feet long... Very accurate.

Just don't even THINK of cutting a curve with a wood slicer - it will destroy the teeth.
